One Kansas City Royal could be facing surgery that would end his season.  Centerfield Coco Crisp has been on the disabled list since June 12 th with a strained rotator cuff.  Team officials now say there is a possibility he has a torn labrum, and he will be examined on Monday in Birmingham, Alabama by Dr. James Andrews.

If it is a torn labrum, the team and Crisp will have to choose either more rest, that could see him return later this season, or surgery that would not have Crisp return until spring training of next year.  Crisp’s three year, $15.5 million contract with the Royals will expire after this season.  Kansas City does have an option to keep Crisp next year at a cost of $8 million.  If he is released and becomes a free agent, the Royals would have to pay a $500,000 buyout.
