No injuries as train derails in St. Louis County

May 29, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

State Department of Natural Resources officials are looking into a train derailment Friday afternoon in Shrewsbury in St. Louis County.

No one was injured when nine cars of Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train left the tracks. But DNR wants to take a look at about 500 pounds of a powdery substance that poured out of a number of cars onto the side of the tracks.

An apartment complex is located nearby, but no homes were evacuated. It is not clear what caused the derailment.
