Central Missouri is the No. 1 seed and host of the NCAA South Central Regional, and will face sixth seeded Texas Permian Basin, who is entering their first NCAA Tournament in school history. The two play in the final game of the first day at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

The Mules opened on Friday with a 10-0 loss to Missouri Southern, then facing elimination, beat Emporia State 8-4, then came back on beat Southern 4-1 to get to the final.  In that game the Mules came back from down 9-3 to tie Nebraska Omaha 9-9, but in the 9 th UNO came back with three runs and won 12-9.   Despite the loss, the Mules finished the season 41-13 and now are home this weekend for the NCAA D-II South Central Regional which starts on Thursday.

I spoke with Mules head coach Tommy Myers before the tournament and he talks about his team’s ability to fight back, how he’ll handle his pitching staff this weekend and what advantage if any, home field will bring his Mules.
