The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2009 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships and Missouri has three schools who fill in the field.

16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments. Regional competition will be held May 8-10. Winners will advance to the super regional’s May 15-16. The finals will be held May 21-25 in Salem, Virginia, at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex.

For the fourth time in five years the Missouri Western softball team will be heading to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Griffons (45-10) are the sixth seed and will play in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, May 8 against Abilene Christian (42-13) who is the third seed.

Central Missouri, who lost to MIAA champion Emporia State on Saturday in an elimination game comes in with a record of 34-12 and will be the seventh seed.  The Jennies will be led by MIAA pitcher of the year, Megan Leonard.

In the Midwest Region, Missouri-St. Louis gets in as the eighth seed with a 29-17 record and will take on the number one seed Ashland.
