Spring football drills at Southeast Missouri State University will end on Saturday, 12-noon, with an offense vs. defense spring game at Houck Stadium.

The defense can score points under the game scoring system and Tony Samuel believes fans will see a spirited competition on Saturday. "Our guys have been getting after it pretty good this spring," he said. "I’ve enjoyed watching them compete and I believe we will have a good game."

Samuel said he will be looking for good execution and how the team reacts in certain situations. "We will work on our two-minute drill and cover other game situations during the scrimmage. We have several new players who have done a good job of blending in and maturing into the system. Now we will get to see them in game type conditions."

The offense will be led by sophomore quarterback Matt Scheible who will throw to a group of veteran receivers including Walter Peoples, Miles Edwards and Chante Ahamefule.

Samuel hopes a big crowd will turn out on Saturday to see the progress the Redhawks have made during spring drills. The game begins at 12-noon and there is no charge.
