Sidney Ponson settled down after giving up a two run homer to Brandon Inge in the second inning, but didn’t get enough run support as the Detroit Tigers won the final two games of the series with a 3-2 win on Sunday.

Ponson tossed eight innings and gave up just three runs on six hits.  He was not happy with the location of some of his pitches and said he got hurt when he missed.  Ponson is now 0-3 and has pitched better than his 5.79 ERA would lead you to believe.

The Royals couldn’t provide enough offensive punch.  Armando Gallaraga held the Royals to just one run despite walking five and giving up three hits.  He also had seven strike outs.

The Royals tried to mount a rally in the 9th.  Mike Aviles homered off closer Fernando Rodney, but he was able to get the final two outs to preserve the win.  The Royals fall to .500 at 9-9.
