Hot goaltending figured into this series between the Blues and Canucks.  Problem is, most expected that hot goalie to be Chris Mason of the Blues.  Instead, it has been Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo.  He made 30 saves in a 3-0 win over the Blues on Friday night.

The Blues come back to the Scott down 2-0 in this Western Conference quarterfinal series,  and one important factor has been Luongo.  He continues to play well carrying over from a good regular season where he was second in the NHL with nine shutouts, and ranking in the top five in goals-against average and save percentage.

Mason wasn’t playing bad either for the Blues, making 24 saves on the night and holding Vancouver scoreless for nearly two periods.

Mats Sundin scored at 18:04 in the second period to put the Canucks up 1-0.  The other factor in this series have been the twins Daniel and Henrik Sendin.  After working well in game one, they assisted on Alexadre Burrows goal at just about the midway point of the second period.

With the Blues in desperation mode late in the game, brother Daniel picked up his third assist of the season feeding his brother Henrik for the empty-netter.
