It’s becoming quite apparent that Kyle Farnsworth may not be an option in the Royals’ bullpen.  He came on in the 7th in a 2-2 game and gave up three runs in one-third of an inning as the Indians won 5-4 Wednesday afternoon and has struggled in two appearances this year.  His ERA is 16.20.

Sidney Ponson made the start for the Royals and did pretty well giving up two runs in his six innings of work.  The Royals were down 2-0 ending into the bottom of the 6th when they got two runs thanks to four walks, two given up by starter Aaron Laffy who was lifted in the inning.

On came Farnsworth who last appeared in Chicago and served up a three run homer to Jim Thome on the 8th inning of a 2-1 game.  Farnsworth game up a double, RBI single, then balk and a walk before being lifted for Ron Mahay.  He too has struggled giving up an RBI double to Travis Hafner and a sac fly before getting out of the inning.

The Royals tried to rally with a run in the 7th and 8th, but Cleveland closer Kerry Wood used just seven pitches to close out the game.
