Missouri senior forward DeMarre Carroll was named MVP of the 2009 Portsmouth Invitational this weekend, after averaging 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games to lead his club (Portsmouth Partnership) to a third-place finish at the eight-team event.  

Carroll reached double figures in all three contests, including 20 points and 16 boards in the third-place game on Saturday night. The Birmingham, Ala., native flashed his versatility all week, ranking in the Top 10 in scoring (sixth), rebounding (fourth), field goal percentage (fourth – .568), assists (10 th – 3.7) and offensive rebounds (third – 4.7). 

Carroll adds to his growing list of accolades this season, which includes MVP honors from the Big 12 Tournament and All-NCAA West Region honors. He also was a First Team All-Big 12 performer, both on the hardwood and in the classroom, in addition to earning honorable mention All-America consideration from the Associated Press.
