The St. Louis Rams today acquired wide receiver Laurent Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons’ fifth (160 th overall) and sixth round (196 th overall) draft choices in exchange for the Rams fifth (138 th overall) and sixth round (176 th overall) draft selections.
Robinson, 6-2, 194 pounds, competed in 21 contests (six starts) with Atlanta and recorded 42 receptions for 489 yards (11.6 avg.) and one touchdown. He tallied career highs in receptions (seven) and receiving yards (114) at Arizona on December 23, 2007 in addition to posting his first career touchdown, a 74-yard catch-and-run. Robinson combined with teammate Roddy White’s 141 receiving yards to produce Atlanta’s first 100-yard receiving duo in a game since 1998.
A graduated of Illinois State University, Robinson accumulated 192 career receptions (a school record) while contributing with 3,007 yards and 29 touchdowns. In 2005, he was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in NCAA Division I-AA.
