There seems to be a misunderstanding between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Finance Board in terms of the length of a commitment the Chiefs must give to the school to hold their training camp in St. Joe.

The Missouri Development Finance Board in December approved $25 million in tax credits for the Kansas City Chiefs with part of that money going to help build a training facility on the campus of Missouri Western.

The agreement signed in January by the Finance Board, the Chiefs and Jackson County required the Chiefs keep their training camp in St. Joe for five years.  Now, the Department of Economic Development says no tax credits will be issued unless the Chiefs commit to ten years.

The Chiefs signed a commitment with Missouri Western for a five year deal and a series of five, one year deals after that.  The Department says that in order for the Chiefs to get the tax credits, they must rewrite their current agreement.
