IRS annual "Super Saturday" is March 21

March 20, 2009 By admin

Those who can’t get away during the week to do their taxes have some options this Saturday.

Michael Devine is with the IRS. He says locations will be open in Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, Joplin, Springfield, St. Joseph, St Louis and Kansas City.

The IRS says the number of people e-filing this year is up about 20 percent, but, there are still those who need some face time.

Devine says locations will be open in Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, Joplin, Springfield, St. Joseph, St Louis and Kansas City.

Devine says people can get help with all of their tax questions including basic returns, resolving tax issues, answering tax law questions and more.

According the IRS, all Taxpayer Assistance Centers in Missouri will be open Saturday March 21 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., to assist area taxpayers with the following services:

Preparing basic tax returns for those who qualify for those whose income is less than $42,000;

Resolving tax issues;

Answering tax law questions;

Making account adjustments;

Accepting payments;

Establishing payment agreements for those who cannot pay taxes in full;

Working with people having a hard time paying;

Providing tax forms and information about e-file which can save time necessary to receive refunds;

The extra day of service at the IRS walk-in offices will help people who may not be able to seek assistance during the work week.

IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers are in:

Cape Girardeau

Jefferson City

Joplin

Springfield

St. Joseph

St Louis area: 111 Corporate Office Dr., Earth City; 1122 Town and Country Commons, Chesterfield; 1222 Spruce St., St. Louis.

Kansas City area: 5800 E. Bannister Rd., Hillcrest Bank Building, Kansas City, Mo.; 3730 S. Elizabeth Ave., Independence, Mo.

In addition to the IRS offices, many local volunteer tax preparation sites will be open Saturday to help people who need free tax help.

Taxpayers can locate the most conveniently located Volunteer Tax Assistance Site by visiting the IRS.gov Web site or by calling 1-800-906-9887 .
