Royals starting pitcher Zach Greinke suffered his second consecutive rough outing in Cactus League play as he gave us six run in five innings in a 9-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners in a rare night game in the desert.

Greinke gave up 11 hits including two home runs in the loss.  Royals first basemen Mike Jacobs homered along with Mark Teahen who has hit his fourth in five days.  he now has five home runs this spring.

The surprising move of the day came when the Royals cut left handed relief pitcher Jimmy Gobble.  Manager Trey Hillman said the team just didn’t have a spot on the roster for a specialist relief pitcher.

Greinke’s ERA last season was 8.81.  He got knocked around pretty good against right handers who hit .325 against him, but he did do his job against lefties who batted just .200.

There are still spots in the bullpen to be won.  The only guaranteed spots belong to closer Joakim Soria, set up man Ron Mahay, and newcomers Kyle Farnsworth and Juan Cruz.
