The Rams upgrade at their safety position.  It will be announced today that Steve Spagnuolo will sign James Butler today to a four year deal.  Butler has played his four years of NFL ball with the Giants and the last two under Spagnuolo, who was the defensive coordinator for New York before joining the Rams.

Butler will replace Corey Chavous who was released in January.   Butler totaled 99 tackles and four interceptions in ’07 and ’08. He recorded a team-high 10 tackles in the Giants’ 17-14 victory over the heavily favored New England Patriots in the Super Bowl after the 2007 season.
