G overnor Nixon still holds out hope he’ll get the jobs bill he wants before the legislature leaves for its Spring break. Lawmakers will leave Thursday and the bill is bottled up in the Senate by several senators who are questioning every tax credit program in the proposal.

Some senators think the state’s tax credits program is out of control. The jobs bill has several tax credit elements.Nixon proposed the expansion of the Blunt administration’s Quality Jobs Act in his State of the State speech January 28th. The House quickly passed the bill 141-19 on February 5. It has gotten some brief debate in the Senate but has been pushed aside by a series of amendments challenging the tax credits in the bill.
