The St. Louis Cardinals will play the Dominican Republic today in a practice game as the team gets ready for the World Baseball Classic, but round one of the WBC is underway in Asia and the Show Me State has a representative on Team China.
His name is Ray Chang. He’s been a career minor leaguer, but he played at Rockhurst high and Rockhurst University before that. He is the starting shortstop for China.
In their first game today, China lost to Japan 4-0. Chang went 1 for 4 with two strikeouts and he left two men on base. He also commited an error with his back to the infield, dropping a pop up to the outfield. No runs scored as a result of his error.
