Royals third basemen Alex Gordon is finding his groove after a slow start to Cactus League games.  Gordon hit his second home run in as many days as the Royals lost to Texas 5-3.

Gordon led off the 7th inning with a solo home run to tie the game 2-2.  Gordon started the spring 1 for 9, but in the last two days he’s hit two long balls.  On the pitching side,   Brian Bannister allowed two runs in three innings in his second Spring outing as he continues to refine his off speed pitchers. Luke Hochevar took over and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two.

Both Bannister and Hochevar’s ERA this spring is 3.60.  Bannister is getting away from his slider and working on perfecting his curve and change up.  He’s hoping by dropping one pitch, it will allow him to refine his other two pitches to make him more effective.  At times, Bannister had control issues and he wants to cut down on his walks this year.

The Royals have an off-day today.
