A pre-game meeting with manager Trey Hillman and hitting coach Kevin Seitzer seem to work for the Royals on Monday.  They pounded out 14 runs on 18 hits as the Royals beat the San Francisco Giants 14-5.

Catcher John Suomi drove in four runs.  Alberto Callaspo, battling for that job at second base went 1 for 2 with three RBI.

Horacio Ramirez, who didn’t make it through the first inning in his first spring outing did much better, going 2.1 innings giving up three unearned runs on five hits and a walk.  Mental and physical errors have hurt the Royals this spring and Hillman wanted to address that in his meeting as well.

One pitcher having a great start is Kyle Davies.  Davies went three innings and allowed just one hit.  He used his changeup a little more and when Davies first came up with the Braves, he was known for his fastball, but not realizes if he’s going to make it in the big leagues, he has to get his changeup to work better.

The Royals take on Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon.  Listen to Davies break down his own pitching performance.
