The Big 12 conference is loaded with talent and expectations and the Missouri Tigers are right in the thick of things.  Mizzou was picked to finish 5th in the Big 12 coaches preseason poll.

Texas A&M (ranked 1st nationally) was picked the win the conference, followed by Texas with Baylor and Oklahoma State tied for third in the voting.

The Tigers enter this season ranked 10th by Baseball America. There are five other Big 12’s teams that are ranked nationally.  Texas A&M (1), Texas (4), Baylor (8), Missouri (10), Oklahoma State (13) and Oklahoma (16).

Mizzou junior pitcher Kyle Gibson and junior catcher Trevor Coleman have earned spots on the Baseball America Preseason All-America teams.  Gibson on the first team, Coleman second team.  

Mizzou will open the 2009 season this Friday against Nevada at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. CT.
