Mizzou wrestling upsets Iowa State

The 5 th ranked Missouri wrestling squad pulled off the 18-15 over second ranked Iowa-State.  It’s the 18 th victory of the year for Mizzou.  Head coach Brian Smith is the first Mizzou coach to get 18 victories in two years. 

Highlights of the match included 10 th ranked 141 pounder Marcus Hoehn from Farmington.  He upset third ranked Nick Gallick 4-3.  8 th ranked 157 pound Michael Chandler of High Ridge held on for his third career win over 7 th ranked Cyler Sanderson.  Fifth ranked Nicholas Marable beat 7 th ranked Jon Reader 3-2 for his sixth win of the season. 

The Tigers suffered losses in the final three weight classes, but held on for the win, just the second ever over ISU in the Hearnes Center and fourth over Iowa State in the Tigers’ 63 year history.  The Tigers have time off now to prepare for the Big 12 Championships March 7 th in Lincoln, Nebraska
