2-4 Haley.jpg According to the Kansas City Star , the Chiefs have been granted permission by the Arizona Cardinals to interview offensive coordinator Todd Haley for the Chiefs head coaching position.

This is pretty much what I suspected.  When GM Scott Pioli let Herm Edwards go, there wasn’t much public talk of bringing in candidates.  Pioli at the time said he was willing to be patient.

Then, during the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl while other teams such as the Rams were adding to their coaching staff, or the Jets hiring Rex Ryan, the Chiefs were quiet.  All signs were pointing to the Chiefs having interest in Haley.

There is not just an interest in Haley because of the success the Cardinals have had, but there is history between Pioli and Haley.  They worked together in the mid to late 90’s with the Jets and Haley was on Bill Parcells’ staff  in Dallas.  (Parcells is Pioli’s father-in-law).

It only makes sense when you put two and two together that Haley is becoming the clear choice.   The Chiefs plan to announce their new coach later this week.
