If it were up to Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez would be in left field for the Cardinals. Pujols even went as far as to give manager Tony LaRussa Manny’s phone number.
Pujols said he talks with Manny every couple days and can’t understand why he hasn’t been signed by any team. I can give you 21 million reasons why? That’s how much Manny made last year, plus he’s a head case. He wouldn’t be a good fit in that Cardinals’ clubhouse and there is no way LaRussa would stand for his antics.
Pujols admits that the Cardinals couldn’t afford the salary, but maybe Manny would give the Cards a discount because of how well the team treats it’s players.
The Cardinals are watching their money and they have a loaded outfield already. They have Ryan Ludwick, Rick Ankiel, Skip Schumaker, and Colby Rasmus who will make a run at the roster, plus Chris Duncan is healthy.
It’s intriguing, but makes no sense to have Manny on this team.
