Missouri Southern cuts men’s soccer program

January 23, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

Due to budget cuts announced by Missouri Southern University President Bruce Speck, the school is cutting the men’s soccer program.  Coach Kiley Cirillo told the players yesterday about the news.

The program started in 1976 under Hal Bodon.  Missouri Southern has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association since 1989, but the soccer program has played in the Southwest Soccer Conferenc the last five year.

Cirillo told the Joplin Globe that between traveling and his salary, the program will save approximately $100,000.
