Rickey Henderson, who played for 25 seasons and with nine teams (including four times with the Oakland A’s), was elected to the Hall of Fame Monday in his first year of eligibility.

Henderson will be joined in the Class of 2009 by former Boston Red Sox slugger Jim Rice, who got in on his 15th and final year of eligibility.

Henderson is the all-time leader in both stolen bases (1,406) and runs (2,295) and ranks second behind only Barry Bonds with 2,190 walks.
