St. Louis Blue left winger Paul Kariya underwent hip surgery on Monday in Colorado and will now begin rehab following the successful procedure. Kariya will be out for the rest of the year.
Kariya signed as a free agent last season with the Blues and has one more year left on his $18 million, three year contract. Blues GM John Davidson said the surgeons worked on the inside hip joint.
Davidson didn’t rule out Kariya coming back this year, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll rush anything. Kariya has 2 goals and 13 assists in 11 games this year.
