The Missouri Tiger basketball team will look to open 2009 on a winning note as it travels to Georgia for its first "true" road game of the season. Many Tigers will have family and friends in attendance to cheer on the road team.
Marietta, Ga., native J.T. Tiller returning to his home state. Tiller will have more than 40 family members making the drive to Athens, while Birmingham, Ala., natives Head Coach Mike Anderson, Assistant Coach T.J. Cleveland, Michael Anderson, Jr., and DeMarre Carroll have several family members and friends making the trip. Athens is also just a three hour drive from Murfreesboro, TN home to Keith Ramsey. Even Miguel Paul of Lakeland Florida will have some family at the game.
The Tigers have played four neutral-court games this year and are 2-2 in those contests, including a win over then-No. 19 Southern California in San Juan, P.R.
The Tigers are looking for their first non-conference road win since December 6, 2003 when they won 63-58 at. The Tigers have lost eight consecutive on the road since then with their last win at an SEC venue coming back on December 7, 1991 at Arkansas.
Missouri has tied its best start under Head Coach Mike Anderson 11-2. The Tigers started that way in 2006-2007 then hit a wall losing four in a row. If the Tiger beat the Bulldogs and move to 12-2, they ’ll match their best
start since Norm Stewart’s last year in 98-99.
