2008 might have been wettest year ever in Missouri

January 2, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

The final totals won’t be in for a couple of months, but State Climatologist Pat Guinan thinks those numbers will show 2008 was the wettest year in Missouri history.

Guinan thinks the figure will show the state averaged a little more than 57 inches of precipitation, slightly more than the record set in the flood year of 1993. He says some counties have reported more than 70 inches of precipitation this year, with one reporting station in north Missouri getting almost 74 inches.
