The warm weather Dolphins came into a frigid Arrowhead Stadium and did what several teams have been able to do to the Chiefs…rally to win in the second half.  The Chiefs gave up 14 points late to lose to Miami 38-31.

Chad Pennington threw three touchdown passes to continue one of the most remarkable comeback seasons in NFL history.  One year after going 1-15, the Dolphins can clinch the AFC East title next Sunday by beating the New York Jets, the team that let Pennington go so they could acquire Brett Favre.

The temperature at the noon kickoff was 10 degrees with a wind chill of minus-12, the coldest conditions in which the Dolphins have ever played.   Pennington engineered a 13-play, 85-yard drive capped by his tiebreaking 14-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Fasano with 4:08 left.

The Chiefs (2-13) concluded the home portion of the worst season in the 49-year history of the franchise. In its last 24 games, Kansas City is 2-22.

After quickly falling behind 10-0 when the Dolphins scored on their first play from scrimmage, the Chiefs fought back and took a 28-24 halftime lead.

A Miami defense gave up four TDs and a season-high 492 yards to the Chiefs, who have lost eight games by seven points or fewer and finish their miserable season next week at Cincinnati trying to play for head coach Herm Edwards job, just six days after president Carl Peterson stepped aside after 20 years.  Tyler Thigpen threw for a career-best 320 yards and had two touchdowns, but he also had three interceptions.
