Dominique Thuston, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound sophomore from St. Joseph, Mo., matched his career high with 23 points, adding six rebounds and three blocked shots as the Griffons claimed a 72-57 road win over Fort Hays State Saturday night (Dec. 13).

Thuston came out of the gate strong after halftime, making 7-of-8 shots from the field and logging 17 points in the final frame.

Thuston also had five of his rebounds and all three blocks in the second half, as he helped Western to its first win in Hays since the 1981-82 season. For the game, Thuston was 10-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-6 from the three-point line.

Thuston is a graduate of Lafayette High School, and transferred to MWSU after a redshirt season at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College—he played as a freshman at Indian Hills (Iowa) Community College.

Western will be in action tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16 when they take on the Quincy Hawks at 7:30 pm in QU Pepsi Arena.
