Molina wins gold glove

November 5, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Molina grabs his first gold glove (Bill Greenblatt, UPI) St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina won the NL gold glove award.  He set the award as one of his goals for the 2008 season, an award that is much deserved, albeit a year or two late.

For Molina it’s his first gold glove in a season that was a down year for his standards.  He threw out 34.6% of would be basestealers and committed 10 errors.

However, Molina hit over .300 (.304) for the first time in his career and somehow when determining the best defensive player at each position, the voters look at offensive statistics?
