A Missouri law designed to effectively remove medically impaired drivers from the roads gets high praise in a Triple A Foundation study.

Mike Right with Triple A Missouri says the voluntary reporting law ( HB 1536 ), which took effect in 1999, allows concerned family members, police officers, doctors, license office staff, and others to report potentially at-risk drivers for reevaluation and possible license revocation if they are found medically unfit to drive.

Missouri is one of 44 states to allow voluntary reporting, with the reporting being mandatory in six states. Right calls Missouri’s law a model for the nation.
