Gonzalez upset, but still a pro

October 16, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

It was reported since Sunday that the Chiefs were shopping all pro tight end Tony Gonzalez and that they were looking for a third round draft pick.  No deal was ever struck before the deadline and now Gonzalez speaks his side.

After listening to his comments, it is clear to see his relationship with President and General Manager Carl Peterson is shot.  Gonzalez couldn’t get return calls from Peterson right before and right after the deadline.

While I was reporting the best offere was rumored to be a sixth round pick from the Giants, Gonzalez says he heard it was a high as a third round pick from Green Bay.  Once, Gonzalez did get a voice mail from Peterson, on Wednesday, he heard that the deal just wasn’t worth the trade.

Gonzalez felt a third rounder for a 32 year old tight end in the twilight of his career was more than enough to make a deal happen, but instead Tony will remain a Chief.

Listen to his comments on the no deal.
