There are still no suspects in a weekend murder in Southwest Missouri and new information of a botched 911 recording at the Jasper County Dispatch office indicates the search may only get harder.

Gun shop owners Robert Sheldon, 71, and Ellen Sheldon, 70 were murdered in their home between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. The couple’s son, Daniel Sheldon called police at 11:04 Sunday morning and told them he was concerned because his parents missed church. Jasper County Sheriff Archie Dunn said Daniel Sheldon told them he found his mother lying in a pool of blood.

The recording of that 911 call was never recorded due to unforeseen technical issues, Dunn said.

A written log of the conversation exists, but the phone recording is unrecoverable, he said.
