State lawmakers could be returning to Jefferson City before the start of the new session of the General Assembly in January.

Sources at the State Capitol have told the Missourinet that Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (R-MO) and a bipartisan group of legislators will get together, Friday morning, to call on Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) to convene a special session of the Legislature immediately after the November election.

Exact details are not known, but the purpose of the session would be to deal with issues of concern to senior citizens. The Lieutenant Governor’s office would not confirm that plans to ask for a special session are in the works.
