A female student went to the hospital after an assault on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
The woman was walking by herself when two black males approached her from behind and demanded her purse, said Campus News Bureau Director Ann Hayes. Even though one perpetrator had a handgun, she said the victim fought back.
The woman was treated and released from a Southeast Missouri hospital. Both suspects are still at large. Hayes urges students not to walk alone.
