Time is ticking if you want to vote in this November’s election. The official deadline to register to vote is Wednesday at 5 p.m. that means if you’re mailing your registration it must be postmarked with an October 8 th stamp.
Some election authorities are staying open late to try and accommodate as many voters as possible, but the fastest way might be online, said Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.
"If you have a computer and a printer just it might be easier to go online to www.govotemissouri.com and print out a voter registration form, fill it out get it in the mail post marked by October the 8 th , that’s this Wednesday," she said.
The Secretary of State’s office has already processed about 250,000 new voter registration applications and 500,000 Missourians have updated their information.
If you aren’t sure if you’re registered, Carnahan said it can’t hurt to send your registration in just in case.
"You want to make sure you’re up to date with your current name and your current address so you don’t have any problems on Election Day," she said.
If you’d rather take care of updating your information or registering in person you stop by a library, a motor vehicle office, local county clerk’s office or election authority and fill out a voter registration form there.
It’s not too late to request absentee ballots.
"You can request an absentee ballot up until very close before the election and you can vote those even the day before," Carnahan said.
