Cardinals finish season on high note

Ryan Ludwick hit his 35 th home run of the year and drove in three runs as Felipe Lopez chipped in with three runs and the Cardinals finish the season with a six game winning streak and an 11-4 blow out win over Cincinnati.

Ludwick’s homer came in the first off Reds’ starter Adam Pettyjohn as the Cardinals hit him for 8 of the team’s 11 runs that they scored in the first three innings.  Troy Glaus hit his 27 th to lead off the third and the Cardinals scored six times in that inning.

Felipe Lopez went 4 for 5 in the game.  Albert Pujols started at first and went 1 for 2 to finish with a .357 batting average. 

Brad Thompson pitched five innings for the win. 

The Cardinals finish the 2008 season 86-76, just a half game behind Houston for third who will not need to make up a game with Chicago.
