A Van Buren man will go trial this spring for killing a highway patrol trooper in March of  2005.

Lance Shockley, 31, will remain in the in Greene County jail for another six months before his murder trial begins. His trial was scheduled to begin January 7 th , 2009, but this week, Judge David Evans re-set the date. Shockley’s new attorney requested the re-set. Jury selection is now scheduled to begin March 18 th and opening statements are scheduled to take place on March 23 rd

Shockley is charged with first degree murder, armed criminal, and leaving the scene of an accident.  Police said he shot and killed Missouri Highway Patrol trooper Carl Dewayne Graham Junior March 20 th , 2005, outside the patrolman’s Van Buren residence.
