The Royals now have sole possession of 4 th place in the AL Central Division after bombing the Detroit Tigers and finishing off the sweep with a 10-4 win.

Brian Bannister went six shut out innings for the win.  He gave up seven hits and a walk, but didn’t allow any Tigers to score.  Meanwhile, the Royals were doing plenty of that including a seven run fifth inning.

The bottom of the order drove in seven runs between Mitch Maier’s three, and Tony Pena’s and John Buck’s two apiece.

In that fifth inning, the Royals scored five of their seven runs with two outs.  After Nate Robertson was pulled with walking the bases loaded, reliever Chris Lampert walked Tony Pena, then gave up a triple to Mitch Maier.

Now the Royals will have a day off then could play spoiler agains the Twins who trail the White Sox by just a half game starting on Friday.
