The Blues played their second exhibition game last night beating the Dallas Stars 3-2.  This coming a day after they lost to the LA Kings at the Spring Center in Kansas City.

I have to throw that out there, but the story this summer has to do with Erik Johnson.  The 20 year old defensemen was the number one overall pick in 2006 and just found out he will miss the entire season with a knee injury.

Now the injury wasn’t suffered in practice or during an exhibition game, but rather during a team bonding trip down to the Lake of the Ozarks.  First off, team bonding?  Do you think the hard nosed players of the Blues’ past like Jacque Plante, Glenn Hall, the Plager Brothers, Bernie Federko, or Tony Twist would have gone for a bonding trip?

Anyway, the Blues are on this "bonding" trip playing golf at the Lake of the Ozarks when Johnson goes to get out of his golf cart and got his right foot caught between the accelarator and brake and hurt his right knee.

He had a MRI and it revealed enough damage that it will require season ending surgery.

This ranks up there with Joel Zumaya, relief pitcher for the Tigers hurt himself playing Guitar Hero, Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood once slipped coming out of a hot tub.
