Federal and state teams assess September flood damage

September 21, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Ten joint teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, State Emergency Management Agency, and the Small Business Administration are collecting flood damage information in the 29 counties impacted by the September flooding. They’re collecting information that will help determine whether Missouri is in line for a federal disaster declaration.

Chuck May, SEMA’s Branch Chief for Planning and Disaster Recovery, says dozens of state and federal officials are spending a lot of time in these 29 counties focusing only on flood-related issues.

The preliminary part of the assessment should be completed by the end of the week, followed by a request, from the Governor’s Office, for federal aid.
