There was no division clinching hangover for the Cubs as they took the final game of this three game series winning 5-1 on Sunday, dropping the Cardinals tragic number to 2 now for the Wild Card spot.

Albert Pujols drove in his 106 th run of the year as the Cardinals got on the board in the first inning, than would get nothing more off Ryan Dempster who won his 17 th game, and four relievers.   Braden Looper gave up four runs in six innings to take the loss.  His record on the year is now 12-14. The Cubs scored one in the third to tie the game up, and then on a single to Ryan Ludwick in right, he threw out Ronny Cedeno trying to score.

The Cubs would take the lead in the fourth after Felix Pie tripled and scored on a sac fly.  The Cubs continued to nibble in the 6 th , when rookie Casey McGehee singled in his second run of the game and Jim Edmonds, the former Cardinal came up as a pinch hitter and drove a run in with a sac fly.  It was an obvious attempt by the Cubs to send one final message to the Cardinals by trotting out Edmonds one more time.

The Cubs added another run on a Kyle McClellan wild pitch.  The Cardinals return home now to take on Arizona and Cincinnati to round out the season.
