Hope Solo The Women’s Professional Soccer League, which will begin play next April in St. Louis, announced where members of the U.S. National team will land.  The St. Louis franchise picked up a top notch goalie.

The St. Louis franchise, which will play without a team name and have their home venue in Edwardsville, Illinois for the 2009 season will have three players from the Olympic gold medal team on their roster.

Lori Chalupny , a St. Louis native was chosen by the league to play in her home town, plus forward Tina Ellertson and stand out goalie Hope Solo .

Solo made some big saves in that gold medal game against Brazil and is also well known for criticizing Team USA’s former coach Greg Ryan for benching her in favor of Brianna Scurry in the World Cup, which the USA lost to Brazil.  She said at the time, that had she played, they would have won.
