SBU’s Grabowski to play in Ireland

September 9, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Jim Grabowski, SBU’s scoring leader last season, has signed to play with the Dart Killester, a professional team in Ireland.  In his 3-year career at SBU, Grabowski scored over 1000 points, and was the only player in SBU history to play on two men’s regular-season MIAA championship teams.

"I really enjoyed my time and career at SBU," said Grabowski. "My experience helped take my game to the next level. I’m really looking forward to representing SBU well as I play in Ireland."

SBU’s head coach, Jeff Guiot, commented on Grabowski, who is the fourth player from SBU to play professional basketball in the past three years.

"God has given Jim many gifts, and one of them happens to be playing basketball well. When gifted players like Jim come into our program, we want to do anything we can to help them fulfil their dreams – athletically, academically, and spiritually. SBU’s mission statement is to prepare servant leaders for a global society. As Jim goes out to play professional basketball, like 3 others have gone in the past three years, we believe he will be a great witness, globally, using his God-given gifts."

In a press release issued by the Dart Killester, head coach Mark Keenan stated: ""We have been tracking him for a while and I am delighted that he has agreed to come to Ireland and DART KILLESTER in particular. He is a big boy who can play inside and out and he comes highly recommended and having spoken with him many times I believe that we have got the right guy."
