Meche fans ten in win over Tribe

September 7, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Gil Meche allowed just five baserunners and only three hits while striking out 10 Indians over his seven innings of work as the Royals beat Cleveland 3-1 Saturday night.  The win puts Meche above .500 at 11-10.  David DeJesus led the Royals’ offense.

DeJesus went 3 for 4 and drove in two runs, apart of a three run second inning.  The Indians scored a run in the fifth, but Meche was pretty much in cruise control all night.  Ramon Ramirez held in the eighth and Joakim Soria picked up his 35 th win and lowered his ERA to 1.77 on the year.
