Bannister drops ball, Royals lose

August 28, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Brian Bannister struck out a career high eight batters and is pitching much better, but his error in the seventh inning led to the Rangers winning three games in Kansas City for the first time in 40 years with a 3-2 win.

Did you ever see a pop up right around the pitcher’s mound and the pitcher gets out of the way and one of the infielders will stumble over the mound to make the catch?  It’s because pitchers don’t get a lot of work on popups.

Actually Bannister was more upset with the back-to-back doubles to Chris Davis and Jarrod Saltalamacchia to tie the game. The Royals have lost for the 17 th time in 20 games.  Saltalamacchia scored from second after the ball sort of "cued" off Bannister’s glove.

Esteban German who has seen his playing time increase with injuries to Mark Grudzielanek and Alex Gordon, had two hits and drove in one of the Royals’ runs.
