Missouri Republicans have wasted little time reacting to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s choice of Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) as the party’s vice presidential running mate.

Governor Matt Blunt calls the selection "an uninspiring decision." He adds the pick "emphasizes Barack Obama’s lack of experience and undermines the chance of any real change in our nation’s capital."

Former U.S. Senator Jim Talent, who worked with Biden on Capitol Hill, says he was "surprised" by the choice. He adds, "It demonstrates that the Obama campaign realizes that Senator Obama doesn’t have the foreign policy credentials or experience to be president."

Obama’s selection of Biden was officially announced by the Obama campaign in an early morning posting on his website and through a text message sent to supporters. But the news of the Biden selection was leaked to the media and was broken a number of hours earlier.
