Reds’ Edison turns Cardinals power off

August 18, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

Edison Volquez held the Cardinals scoreless through seven innings as the Reds ended the Cardinals four game winning streak beating St. Louis 7-3 on Sunday afternoon.  The Cardinals remain two games behind Milwaukee.

Kyle Lohse took the loss to drop to 13-7 on the year, but the big blow came in the 7th inning when reliever Jaime Garcia gave up a three run homer to Brandon Phillips.

The Cardinals got to the Cincinnati bullpen to cut into the lead.  Ryan Ludwick picked up his 93rd RBI of the year, Troy Glaus, his 82nd.  With the loss, the Cardinals drop 7.5 games behind Chicago, but remain two games behind Milwaukee for the Wild Card who also lost.
