Southwest Missouri subdivision sued

August 14, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

The Attorney General is suing a southwest Missouri subdivision near for putting untreated sewage into a tributary.

Jay Nixon has filed suit against the owners and operator of a wastewater treatment facility in a subdivision near Branson. The suit against the Damsite Improvement Association includes the Damsite subdivision. A state Department of Natural Resources inspection back in May found the facility was discharging untreated sewage into tributary of Lake Taneycomo.

Taneycomo is one of the premier attractions in southwest Missouri and should be protected from pollution, said Nixon. The lawsuit seeks to have the sewage contained and sent on for treatment. It further asks a Taney County judge to issue an injunction and seeks payment of penalties for violating Missouri’s clean water law.
