Missouri GOP talks up unity following contentious gubernatorial campaign

August 12, 2008 By admin Leave a Comment

It’s been a little more than a week since voters casting ballots in the Republican primary opted for Kenny Hulshof over Sarah Steelman in the GOP Governor’s race. But the two candidates have yet to come together for bring together the two sides from what was seen as a sometimes contentious campaign.

Missouri Republican Party Executive Director Jared Craighead says he understands the disappointment, but feels confident Steelman supporters will back Hulshof over Democrat Jay Nixon in November.

There had been rumors of what was called a unity rally in which Hulshof and Steelman would come together. That didn’t happen. And that’s fine with Craighead. "We don’t need to have an event where our entire ticket stands together and acts like we’re unified," says Craithead. "We are unified."
